Modern period in India begins with the age of industrialisation in early 19th century by British Raj.
Large industries were set up,flow of goods in foreign countries,introduction of railways for better transportation,Ports were developed for import and export of goods.Postal services,Public Welfare Department were set up.
But in reality British's policy was exploitative, they did the things that were beneficial for them. The modern period of India began in industrialisation period but the indians had not modernised and all the wells of wealth were taken by them.
