: When driving 55 mph, what would happen when you hover a remote control
helicopter in midair inside the car? I would think once it lifts off
the ground it would slowly lose its horizontal velocity. Can you tell me
the mathematical formula that represents the physics?"

I guess the formula is F=ma.since there is no horizontal force there is no horizontal acceleration .this was taken from Galileo book.

it cannot lift off the ground because the mass of the remote control helicopter is negligibly less when compared to the mass of the car. it also has a large momentum since it is travelling at high rate when compared to a small hovering helicopter.
