The value of X is the side of the square before subtraction of 2 metres

The value of length cannot be negative ie., -

therefore the answer is 9 metres

formula to find the area the square = side^2

after reducing the length of the sides of the square the area is = 49

so we find the square root of 49

√49 = 7

so the length of the sides after reducing 2 is 7

so just add 2 to 7 to get the original length of the side

2 + 7 = 9
