when Eagles fly, being far from earth surface it's shadow doesn't fall on the earth, then during eclipse how can moon's shadow fall on earth being so far to earth?

Moon is really big is size and it come just before the sun so the shadow is formed but the eagle is small and so the shadow doesn't reach up to the surface.
