When an earthquake occurs, the build up stress gets released in the form of waves of energy.
Explanation:
- An earthquake is a shaking of the ground surface that results from the sudden release of energy firm the seismic waves. These earthquakes range from the least destructive to serious type.
- Normally in an earthquake, the earth shakes and moves or vibrates, as the earth is already in static or elastic energy released for the earthquake take spaces along a fault line.
- The stick-slip behaviour of the rocks in this fault system tends to rotate in relative motion with the plates that change their position. All the is continuous until sufficient stress is building, creating heat and release of pressure through the cracking of rocks and earthquakes occurs.
