The energy level and the orbit in which electrons would be added are inter-related :

This is calculated by the formula n + L

n : principal quantum number

L :  azimuthal quantum number

As lower the value of n + L , electrons will be filled in that orbit first.

L for s orbital : 0

L for p orbital : 1

L for d orbital : 2

6s = 6+0 =6

5d = 5 +2 =7

Hence, 6s will fill first.
