When eukaryotic cells divide, after DNA replication is over, the cell enters into the G2 phase where it starts to prepare for the mitotic phase.

Explanation:

  • Mitosis is the process of cell division. This is initiated by the dissolution of the nuclear membrane and the formation of spindle fibres.
  • Spindle poles start to form in the initial prophase stage of mitosis. Gradually spindle fibres elongate and attach themselves to the centrosomes of the chromosomes.
  • Then the chromosomes arrange into the metaphase plate, then are pulled into the extremities during anaphase and then the cells divide during telophase.
