When a force of ‘F’ N makes an angle of ‘A’ degrees with the X-axis then the force can be resolved into two components namely ‘F*cosA’ and ‘F*sinA’ where ‘FcosA’ acts along the X-axis and ‘FsinA’ acts along the Y-axis as shown in the figure.
In the given question force of 100 N makes an angle of 60 degree with the Y-axis and hence it makes an angle of 30 degree with the X-axis and hence the Y component of the force vector will be Fsin30 i.e. 100*sin(30)
100*sin(30)= 100*(0.5) ………….. (since sin(30)=0.5)
Y component of force 100*sin(30) =50N.
