On heating water ,the heat energy supplied to water is absorbed by its molecules and stored in the form of potential energy, the stored potential energy is used in increasing the inter particle spaces and the force of attraction between the molecules decreases gradually till it becomes almost negligible and the molecules of pure water at 100 degree Celsius , almost becomes free and escape out as vapour or gas .
