It was important to keep Humayun's passing a mystery since anybody can catch the sultanate and can toss the whole retainer out of the castle and could grab all the property.

He used to go to mount Hira close to the city of Mecca and hang loose in reflection and petition.

It was essential to keep Humayun’s death a secret till Akbar reached Delhi. This is because if the death was made known to the public, European and Portuguese traders would take this as an opportunity to invade Delhi. It would also make way for local rulers to start revolting and cause unrest in the city. However, if Akbar were in Delhi at the time of Humayun’s death, these traders and local rulers would think twice about attacking the capital city. Akbar was a powerful ruler.
