Answer:

The book has a total of 80 pages.

Working backwards is probably the most efficient way to solve this problem.

You read 2/5 of the remainder on Sunday. That means 3/5 of the remainder are unread (1- 2/5). It is given that 36 pages are unread. Therefore 3/5 of the remainder is equal to 36. Set up equation and solve for x which will be the remainder

3/5x=36

x=36(5/3)

x=60

Therefore, when you finished reading on Saturday, you still had 60 pages left to read.

We know that you read 1/4 of the book on Saturday. That means when you finished reading on Saturday you still had 3/4 of the book left to read. We just determined that this was equal to 60 pages. So set up equation and solve.

3/4x=60

x=80

So the book had a total of 80 pages.

Answer:

There are a whole of 60 pages in the book.

Step-by-step explanation:

If 3/5th of the book is left, then I have completed 2/5th of a book which is 24 pages.

Therefore, 3/5 * 100 = 60 pages (* means multiplied)
