when i multiply a number by 5 and add 10 to be the product and divide this sum by 8 , i get a number which is one less than the number what is the number ?

Let the number be x  A/q (x*5 + 10)/ 8 = x - 1 => (5x + 10)/8 = x - 1 => 5x + 10 = 8x - 8 => 3x = 10+8 = 18 => x = 6  Hence, the number is 6.
