when iron rod is kept dipped in copper sulphate solution for sometimes a brown coating is formed on the solution on the iron rod. this happens, according to reactivity series we know that iron is more reactive than copper so iron displaces copper from copper sulphate and forms iron sulphate . the change in colour is that, since the colour of copper sulphate is blue. when we put iron rod in the CuSO4 the blue color change to green .
