Hey...
A change said to have taken place in a material when some stress in the form of pressure or temperature is applied on the material. For ex, a temperature raise may melt the material.
Hope this would help you.

The change takes place when some kind of energy which is capable to do changes (either physical or chemical), is given (or taken) to an object, like heat energy, kinetic energy, stress or strain energy, electrical energy etc.

  • For example, we can take the reference of the change of state of the water.
  • Water is liquid in the normal room temperature conditions.
  • But,when we give heat energy (to 100°C), the water changes it's state and becomes gaseous steam.
  • And, when we take away the heat energy, the water also changes it's state and becomes solid ice.
  • So, in this case, the change of the material is happening due to the transfer of energy.
