Precipitation reaction is a type of double displacement reaction in which an insoluble product (precipitate) is formed.

Hence, the name precipitation reaction.

For example :- AgNO3(aqueous) + KCl(aqueous) —> AgCl(precipitate) + KNO3(aqueous)
