The plants are usually harvested after they flower, before the flowers go to seed.If a jute plant is allowed to grow after the flowering and and then harvesting is done after ripening of seeds, the fibre will be stronger but quality of fibre will be very coarse and it lacks the characteristic lustre and elasticity.
