Kidney transplantation:

Kidney transplant is a major surgery that is also highly expensive and life-threatening, still with a considerably low amount of success rate.

In this surgery, the kidney is taken from a separate wishful and healthy donor whose HLA antigen matches the recipient's HLA antigen and that is placed separately in the left pelvic fossa with proper blood supply and ureteric connections.

It is advised only when the kidney of the patient reduces its function below 10% of the recommended value, and a total of more than 5 dialyzes are needed per week.
