Explanation:

Man is certainly the most dangerous animal. To be “dangerous” is to be able to inflict damage.

Ironically, it is our reasoning mind that makes us so dangerous. Our reasoning mind lets us understand and manipulate reality for our own ends. In the Stone Age, that gave us the power to be dangerous to mammoths, surely far more dangerous than us if we think in merely physical terms. Since then, of course, our knowledge and technology have grown immensely and we now rule the planet and are moving off it. Between guns and bombs, nothing can match us for danger.

Why ironically? Because it is our reasoning mind that makes us human in the best ways too: philosophy, and ethical understanding of the proper ways to use our power. The problem is that there has always been bad philosophy and people wanting to use force to get what they want. But the good philosophy is slowly winning (as it must, because the bad philosophy only destroys and takes, so is dependent on the good philosophy, which is what creates value in the first place).

We need to remain dangerous. All animals doing more than hiding in the shadows have to be dangerous in some form. That is why cows have horns after all. But one day we will be dangerous only potentially, to anyone who wishes to attack us: and not dangerous to the innocent
