when a body is moving with increasing velocity then the acceleration is said to be positive.

When a body is moving with constant or uniform velocity then the acceleration is said to be zero.

When a body is moving with decreasing velocity i.e. it will come to rest after application of brakes, then the acceleration is said to be negetive.
