when is the method of sections more effective than the method of joints in the analysis of plane truss ?

When you want to find forces in each member, use method of joints. It you want to find forces in some specific members only, use method of sections.
dipto: that means if i want to find forces in specific members, i can use method of joints too ? am i r8 ?
Anonymous: yes you can use....but it will be lengthy and you have to find forces in members which you don't need
