Explanation:

One dimensional motion is a motion along a straight line in any direction.

In a two dimensional motion, a body moves along x and y-axes at the same time.

As a snake moving on a spherical rock, moves along both axes at the same time therefore it is a two dimensional motion.

Whereas, aeroplane and ball move in a straight line therefore these are one dimensional motions.

One-Dimensional Motion:-

When a body moves along a straight line,it is said to be in one dimensional motion.

⇾In one-dimensional motion, only one - coordinate of the position of the body changes with time.

Ex:-

  • Motion of a car moving on a straight road.
  • Motion of a freely falling body.
  • Motion of a person running on a straight race track.

Two-Dimensional motion:-

When a body moves along two dimensions , it is said to be in two-dimensional motion. In simple words,Motion of a body in plane is  a two dimensional motion.

⇾It includes the motion along a curved path like projection, circular motion.

Ex:-

  • A roller coaster doing a loop.
  • Motion of a car during a circular turn.
  • Motion of billiards ball.

Know more:-

⇾If one dimensional motion is motion in straight line say in- X - direction.

⇾Then, two dimensional motion is motion in a plane in X & Y direction at the same time.

Three-Dimensional motion:-

When a body moves along three dimensions 'X','Y'&'Z' ,it is said to be in three dimensional motion. (Or) Motion of a body in space is called as three dimensional motion.

Ex:-

  • Motion of a flying bird.
  • Movement of gyroscope.
  • Motion of an aeroplane.
  • Motion of a kite.
