When is tone of 200 gwt is completely immersed in water,60 gwt water is displaced.
a. What will be the weight of the stone in the water?
b .what will be the buoyancy experienced on the stone?
c . If the same experiment performed in saline water, what will be the change in the volume of of displaced liquid?

Answer:

weight of stone(mg)=0.2 N

density of water(d)=1000kg/cubic meter

note : Archimedes' principle states that the upward buoyant force that is exerted on a body immersed in a fluid, whether fully or partially, is equal to the weight of the fluid that the body displaces.

buoyant force = 0.06N

weight of stone in water=weight - buoyant force

weight of stone in water=0.2-0.06=0.14=140gwt

buoyant force=0.06N

if the experiment is done in saline solution

volume of displaced water increases since the density of saline water is greater than pure water at 25°C .

volume of water displaced = (density of water)×(volume of body)×g.

buoyant force increases.
