Explanation:

• When water vapor or humidity emitting from the hot plane engine mixes with the atmosphere that comprises low vapor pressure and temperature than the exhaust gas, the water vapor freezes or turns to ice in the sky which gives a cloudy appearance and white trails or contrails are formed.
• Long contrails are formed when humidity is elevated whereas short contrails are formed there is less humidity.
• There are different types of contrails:-

1. Short-lived contrails
2. Persistent or non-spreading contrails.
3. Persistent spreading contrails.
