When kerela recieves southwest monsoon rainfall ,the western parts of tamil nadu remains dry. why?

South west mansoon from the arabian sea branch is obstructed by western ghats, these winds then climb the slopes of the western ghats , soon they become cool , as a result windward side of sahyadris and western coastal plain receives torrential rainfall.
