When magnesium is burnt in air it is left into white ash. The ash contains contains two compounds of magnesium formed by reaction of magnesium with oxygen and nitrogen of air. These are oxide and nitride of magnesium

When ash is treated with water a colourless gas along with magnesium hydroxide is formed.
Answer the following questions on the basis of above observations:
ques = When ash is treated with water a colourless gas is evolved . Name the gas evolved and write the reaction involved.
