when magnisium reacts with oxygen then heat is needed to produce magnisium oxide still why is it called exothermic reaction?

abhishekak19733: Bcoz amount of heat liberated is more that heat provided so energy level for product side is greater
shruti2099: thanks

After it burns, it forms a white powder of the magnesium oxide. Magnesiumgives up two electrons to oxygenatoms to form this powdery product. This is an exothermic reaction. Anexothermic reaction is a term that describes a chemical reaction in which there is a net release of energy (heat).
