there were so many reasons due to which mahatma gandhi were forced to withdraw the movement:-

(a) the chauri chaura incident take place in 1922 in which thousand of peoples are killed by britishers.

(b) this incident makes angried people of gorakpur.

(b)they put the police station on fire killing 22 and all other buildings under goverment or represent britishers.

(c) gandhiji was against violence when he came to knew about the incident that the movement started by him is creating violence in such condition he decided to call off the movement.
