Answer -

In 1856, Mendel began a series of experiments at the monastery to find out how traits are passed from generation to generation. Mendel studied inheritance in peas (Pisum sativum). Mendel followed the inheritance of 7 traits in pea plants, and each trait has 2 forms. So, he cross-pollinated till several generations to get pure breeding line. Monohybrid cross: Example- Tall × Dwarf

→Monohybrid cross basically shows the transfer of characteristics from parent to offspring.
