When muddy water is allowed to stand, the mud takes a long time to settle down. A white solid
called alum can help the mud to settle down faster. Why do you think mud settles faster on

Answer:
because, alum being an external agent causes the particles present in the container to colloid together and form heavier particles, as heavier particles sink in water these particles settle down therefore, increasing the speed of sedimentation.
