when NaCl is mixed with water no hydolysis occurs but it occurs when NH4CL is mixed why??

Explanation:

When NH4Cl is mixed in water it undergoes cationic hydrolysis because

NH4Cl is a salt made by mixing a weak base and a strong acid so the H+ and OH- concentration are not the same.

But NaCl is a Salt made of mixing a Strong Acid and a Strong Base and the H+ and OH- ion concentration is the same

That's the reason why NH4Cl undergoes Hydrolysis while NaCl does not

Explanation:

A solution of NaCl in water has no acidic or basic properties, since neither ion is capable of hydrolyzing.

When ammonium chloride undergoes hydrolysis, ammonium cation reacts with Hydroxyl ion of water to produce ammonium hydroxide. Ammonium Hydroxide is a weak base so it does not dissociate completely. Chloride ion reacts with hydrogen to produce Hydrochloric acid.
