when oil from a tin is poured through funnel placed tightly in to the neck of a bottle,the oil stays there why?

Excellent question!
As air too exerts some pressure, it doesn't allows oil into the tin.. The tin which initially filled with air, restricts the flow of oil into the tin when we placed funnel tightly into the neck of the bottle such that the air cant find the way to escape out of the tin which on further blocks the oil.
