Sliding friction acts in the opposite direction of the motion of the object ,it takes less force to overcome as there is less friction between the surface and the object due to which there is less interlocking so sliding friction is less than static friction, whereas in static friction ,it has more friction with the ground due to which there is more interlocking and hence station friction is more than sliding friction,I hope it helps you
