Thrice the number = 3x

According to the problem given ,

3x - x / 2 = 2500

( 6x - x ) / 2 = 2500

5x/2 = 2500

x = ( 2500 × 2 ) / 5

x = 500 × 2

x = 1000

Therefore ,

Required number = x = 1000
