When people suffer from chicken pox, they shed their skin when the pox dries. It is recommended by doctors that the skin shed by the patient should be burnt away and not be directly touched. Why do you think this precaution is mandatory?

This precaution is mandatory because chicken pox is a communicable disease which can spread through contact of skin.

  • The varicella-zoster virus that causes chicken pox can spread through mucus, saliva or blistered skin of an infected person.
  • The pox dries might have the virus still in them probably which can be contacted by another person.
  • Hence, doctors advice that the skin shed of a person suffering from chicken pox shall be burnt.
