✯Equivalent Resistance = 36 ohms✯

Explanation:

 \large \sf \underline{ \underline{Given}}

  • Resistors of resistance of 60 ohms and 90 ohms are connected in parallel.

 \large \sf \underline{ \underline{to \: find}}

  • What is the equivalent resistance ?

Formula to be used:

  • 1/Rp = 1/R1 + 1/R2...

Solution: Let Rp be the equivalent resistance.

Here we have

  • R1 = 60 ohms
  • R2 = 90 ohms

Substitute the values on formula

⟹ 1/Rp = 1/60 + 1/90

  • LCM of 60 and 90 is 180.

⟹ 1/Rp = 3 + 2/180

⟹ 1/Rp = 5/180

⟹ 1/Rp = 1/36

⟹ Rp = 36 ohms

Hence, the equivalent resistance is 36 ohms.

[ To find equivalent resistance of resistors connected in series ]

  • R = R1 + R2 + R3....

[ For parallel ]

  • 1/R = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3..
