when resistance R1 and R2 are connected in series the current through the circuit is 2A. On the other hand if R1 and R2 are connected in parallel . the current through the circuit is 9A the circuit is connected to the battery
of 12 V . what is the value of R1 and R2.?

Answer:

Correct option is

A

38.2Ω

D

261.8Ω

Equivalent resistance for parallel connection        Rp=100+R2100R2

Equivalent resistance for series connection      Rs=100+R2

Joule heat produced     H=RV2t                     ⟹H∝R1

∴   Hp=5Hs        ⟹   Rp1=Rs5

∴     100R2100+R2=100+R25

OR     R22−300R2+10000=0

⟹   R2=38.2Ω  or
