When resistors R1 and R2 are connected in parallel net resistance is 3.When they are in series net resistance is 16.Find R1 and R2.Plz answer with proper explanation.

R1+R2=16 ( in series connction)..................1
R1*R2/ R1+R2=3 IN parallel..............2
by putting the value in of R1+R2 IN equqtion 2 we will be getting
R1*R2=48
then using then using the identity (R1-R2)²=(R1+R2)²-4*R1*R2
by solving this we will get ,R1-R2= 8`..........3
By adding eqn 1and 2,
we get that ,
R1 = 12
R2 = 4
