When a mixture of common salt , sand , iron filings and sulphur is shaken with carbon disulphide, only Sulphur dissolves in it to form a yellow coloured liquid. [ NaCl will not dissolve in CS. The mixture is filtered through a filter paper ,NaCl, sand and Iron filings remain as the residue. [in the filter paper].
