Answer: Salivary gland system is working here in her body.

When Sati opened her lunch box her mouth started watering on seeing the food because of salivary gland.

What is Salivary gland?

On each side of the face are structures called salivary glands. They produce saliva, often known as spit, which acts as a lubricant in the mouth and throat.

Saliva contains enzymes that start the breakdown (digestion) of food. Additionally, it contains antigens and other elements that guard against throat and mouth infections.Major and minor salivary glands are the two primary varieties.

a-Major salivary glands

  1. The Parotid glands=They are located right in front of the ears and are the biggest salivary glands. Most malignancies of the salivary glands begin here. Although the majority of these tumors are benign , the parotid glands continue to be the origin of the majority of malignant salivary gland tumors.
  2. The Submandibular glands= These large salivary glands are located below the jaw and are smaller than the parotid glands. They produce saliva, which is released behind the tongue.
  3. The  Sublingual glands=These salivary glands, the smallest of the primary salivary glands, are located beneath the tongue and the floor of the mouth.

b-Minor salivary gland=Additionally, there are many hundred smaller salivary glands that cannot be seen without specialized lab apparatus. These glands can be found in the cheeks, nose, sinuses, larynx, roof of the mouth, under the lining of the lips and tongue, and throughout the body (voice box). Although they are rare, these gland tumors are typically malignant rather than benign.
