Explanation:

Capacitors are devices used to store electrical energy in the form of electrical charge. By connecting several capacitors in parallel, the resulting circuit is able to store more energy since the equivalent capacitance is the sum of individual capacitances of all capacitors involved.

Answer: capacitor is use in both parallel and in series as per their application requirement.

In DC power supply, the capacitor is used in parallel between phase and neutral to grounds the voltage signal if creepy or fluctuation comes into the supply.

In BJT transistor, the capacitor is used at the input terminal of Base to restrict DC voltage and it only allow high-frequency signal.

To reduce the effect of EMI in SMPS power supply, the decoupling capacitor is use between phase and neutral terminal in AC supply.

Many frequency filter circuit where capacitor is connected in series.

So, it's wrong to say capacitor is connect in parallel not in series.

If you want to restrict DC current and only want to pass certain frequency signal then u have to connect capacitor in series.

If you want to protect the device from high-frequency noise and fluctuation in supply, then you have to connect the capacitor in parallel.
