It is a conversion of galvanometer into ammeter . When a small resistance i.e. shunt resistance is connected in parallel of galvanometer it's current efficiency decreases .

Shunt resistance can be calculated as RS= ( Ig/I-Ig)Rs

The resistance of shut becomes 1/99 of the galvanometer resistance.

Explanation:

The Shunt resistance of galvanometer is given as

S = \frac{GI_g}{I-I_g}

Here, G is the galvanometer resistance and Ig current through galvanometer.

Given, I=100I_g.

Substitute the value, we get

S=\frac{GI_g}{100I_g-I_g}

S=\frac{G}{99}

Thus, the resistance of shut becomes 1/99 of the galvanometer resistance.
