silver chloride is originally white in colour but in sunlight it decomposes to form Ag+Cl2

which leaves Ag behind which is grey in colour

When silver chloride is exposed to sunlight, photolytic decomposition reactions takes place the decomposition reaction carried out by sunlight.AgCl is broken down into Ag and Cl.This is the reaction used in black and white photographs.
