When silver is added to hydrochloric acid no gas is evolved. Why?

We know that the reactivity series has metals in their decreasing order of chemical reactivity.

Metals that lie above hydrogen in the reactive series,are violent when allowed to react with HCl as they reduce hydrogen ions to hydrogen gas

silver that lie below hydrogen do not react with HCl.
