When some gram seeds are put in a beaker half filled with water,after some times some seeds started to float on top. Why?

When we put some gram seeds in beaker half filled with water , seeds which are healthy and good sink at the bottom of the water whereas the seeds which are unhealthy remains afloat. So that's why some seeds starts floating on the surface of water as they are unhealthy and not fit for sowing.
