When spherocytes are reported, what is observed on the peripheral blood smear

Spherocytes are found on the blood film, usually accounting for 15% to 20% of cells. The presence ofspherocytes in the blood can be confirmed by an osmotic fragility test (however the osmotic fragility test is not specific for hereditaryspherocytosis and may be abnormal in immune and other hemolytic anemias).
