True

Colonisation is the process of subjugation of one country by another, which brings out several political, economic, social and cultural changes.

The colonial period in India was when the British came to India as a small trading group called East India Company and were determined to acquire all the territories of India.

The East India Company, in 1651, was established on the banks of river Hugli.

India was a colony at that time when British came to India.

They brought changes in our culture, tastes and customs. Moreover, they forced the Indians to sell their goods at lower prices and produce the crops they needed.

Many historians treat it as the colonial period because at that time, the Indians were forced for one thing or the other. They didn't have freedom at that time. Nor that time was of educational and economic growth.
