When sugar is dissolved in water ,there is no increase in the volume .which characterstics of particles of matter is illustrated by this observation

In when sugar is dissolved in water there is no increase in volume because there are small intercellular space between the molecule of water. when sugar is dissolved in it the sugar molecule goes to the water inter-molecular space that's why the volume is constant not change.

There is small intercellular space between the particles of water and the particles of sugar get filled in them
