When the angle of elevation of the sun is 40° a mango tree casts a shadow 7 meters long.how tall is the tree?​

• Angle of elevation = 40°
• Length of shadow = 7 m

Let the required triangle be Δ ABC

∴ Angle of elevation = ∠ ABC = 40°

Length of shadow = AB = 7 m

Height of tree be AC.

In right Δ BAC,

AC = AB × tan 40°

⇒ AC = 7 × tan 40° (tan 40° = 0.839)

⇒ AC = 7 × 0.839

= 5.873 m = 5.87 m

Height of tree is 5.87 metre.
