here angle of incidence (i) = 42°
refractive index of glass (n) = 1.5
for total internal reflection, we know that the angle of refraction must be 90°
let critical angle = C
therefore, 1/sin C = n
=> sin C = 1/1.5
=> C = sin^-1(0.66)
=> C = 41.3°
since glass is denser medium the ray will bend towards the normal
