Given :

  • Mass of the boy = 50 kg
  • Area of a shoe sole = 10 cm² .

To find :

⇢ Pressure when

  • He is standing on both feets
  • He is standing on one feet only

Conversions :

⇢ Area of the shoe sole = 10 cm²

 \tt = 10 \times  {10}^{ - 4}  \:  {m}^{2}

 \tt  =  {10}^{ - 3}  {m}^{2}

Solution :

The formula of pressure is given by

\boxed{\sf{Pressure = {\dfrac{Force}{Area}}}}

Force = mg

= 50× 9.8

= 490

1) When he is standing in both shoes

Area of two shoes = 2 × Area of one shoe sole

 \tt  = 2 \times  {10}^{ - 3} \:   {m}^{2}

Pressure when he is standing on both shoes =\tt{\dfrac{490}{2 \times 10^{-3}}}

= 245 × 10³ Pa

= 2.45 × 10⁵ Pa

2) Pressure when he is standing on one feet = \tt{\dfrac{490}{10^{-3}}}

= 490 × 10³ Pa

= 4.9 × 10⁵ Pa
